A growing family in a two-bedroom cottage they didn't want to leave — on a narrow lot with strict setbacks.
Approach
A single-storey rear addition in limestone and standing-seam metal, invisible from the street. A new kitchen and family room at the back, stepping down to the garden in wide limestone stairs.
Result
Two new bedrooms, a new kitchen and family room — and the original front of the house left entirely untouched.
